In this video, Senior Development Scientist, Dr. Brian Engle, discusses the importance of Beckman Coulter’s new immunoassay test to determine APOE ε4 zygosity.

Apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4, a lipid transport protein isoform, is associated with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The multiplex two-step sandwich assay showed excellent analytical performance with no APOE ε3 or APOE ε2 cross reactivity and high concordance with PCR and with a commercially available APOE ε RUO assay.

About Dr. Engel: Prior to joining Beckman Coulter, Brian earned his PhD from Rice University and did postdoctoral research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. His past work includes understanding the molecular mechanisms of endometrial cancer, developing high throughput 3D culture systems, and studying the evolution of peptide agents for non-invasive imaging.
